Regulations

Section 1: General Provisions
  • (Name)
    Article 1 This organization has been named the Nagoya University Alumni Association.
  • (Office)
    Article 2 The Association has its office in Nagoya University in Furo-cho, Chikusa-ku, Nagoya City.
  • (Aims)
    Article 3 This Association will, as an organization essential for connecting Nagoya University to society, seek the further development of the university and contribute to society while facilitating communication and promoting amity among its members.
  • (Responsibilities)
    Article 4 The Association performs the following duties in order to achieve the aims stated in Article 3.
    • 1. Coordinates and collaborates with Nagoya University
    • 2. Hosts events including get-togethers and forums
    • 3. Provides support in establishing alumni associations of departments and courses
    • 4. Other activities that correspond to the aims of the Association
  • (Chapters)
    Article 5 Members may create chapters as desired.
Section 2: Membership
  • (Members)
    Article 6 Members of the Association are as below.
    • 1. Members of alumni associations of departments and courses of Nagoya University or a Nagoya University Graduate School.
    • 2. Graduates and current or former faculty (of Nagoya University or a Nagoya University Graduate School) who are not members of the above.
    • 3. Other individuals or legal entities that have a connection to Nagoya University or a Nagoya University Graduate School and that have been recognized by the Board President.
  • (Associate Members)
    Article 7 Current Nagoya University and Nagoya University Graduate School students shall be considered associate members.
Section 3: Officers of the Board
  • (Board Officers)
    Article 8 Officers of the Association are as below.
    • 1. President (1)
    • 2. Vice Presidents (several)
    • 3. NUAL Executive Coordinator (1)
    • 4. Executive Committee (several)
    • 5. Board of Trustees (several)
    • 6. Trustee (several)
  • (Council Elections)
    Article 9 The council shall elect its President, Vice President, NUAL Executive Coordinator, Executive Committee, and Trustee.
  • (President)
    Article 10 The President shall serve as the representative of the Board and oversee all its affairs.
    • 2. The Vice President shall assist the President of the Board.
    • 3. The NUAL Executive Coordinator shall manage the actions of the Board and administer office affairs.
    • 4. Executive Committee form the Executive Meeting and oversee segregation of the Association's duties.
    • 5. Board of Trustees form the council and deliberate on important matters.
    • 6. Trustees audit the Association's accounts.
  • (Honorary President)
    Article 11 Honorary presidents may be elected to the Board.
  • (Advisers)
    Article 12 Several advisers may be elected to the Board.
    • 2. Advisers provide council on important matters related to Association affairs.
  • Article 13 The President shall determine the affairs of the Vice Presidents, NUAL Executive Coordinator, Executive Committee, Board of Trustees, and Trustee in accordance with the results of Council deliberations.
    • 2. The President shall determine the affairs of the Honorary President and Advisers.
  • (Term)
    Article 14 Officers shall hold their office for two years and may be reappointed.
Section 4: Meetings
  • (Meetings)
    Article 15 Meetings shall consist of the Executive Meeting and the Council.
  • (Executive Meeting)
    Article 16 The Executive Meeting is comprised of the President, Vice Presidents, NUAL Executive Coordinator, and Executive Committee.
    • 2. The Executive Meeting deliberates on the following matters.
      • a. Matters requiring Council deliberation
      • b. Matters related to carrying out affairs not requiring the deliberation of the Council
  • (The Council)
    Article 17 The Council is composed of the President, Vice Presidents, NUAL Executive Coordinator and Board of Trustees, and is convened by the President.
    • 2. The Council deliberates on the following matters.
      • a. Affairs concerning the reform and abolition of the Articles of Association
      • b. Affairs concerning business plans and announcements
      • c. Matters concerning budgeting and account settlement
      • d. Matters concerning member qualifications
      • e. Other matters referred by the President
    • 3. Trustees submit reports on Association audit results to the Council.
  • (Quorum)
    Article 18 A majority of the members must be present to constitute a quorum.
Section 5: Accounts
  • Article 19 Association expenses will be paid from sources of income that include dues paid by supporting members (from those members that pay support dues), dues paid by alumni associations of departments and courses, and from donations.
  • (Accounts)
    Article 20 The accounting period of the Association shall be from April 1 to March 31.
  • (Detailed Enforcement Regulations)
    Article 21 All issues and matters necessary to the operation of this Association that have not been established in these Articles of Association are established elsewhere.
Final Provisions
These Articles of Association came into force on October 27, 2002.
