Inaugural Meeting of the Korea Branch
The Korea Branch of the Nagoya University Alumni Association was inaugurated and held its first general meeting on the afternoon of Thursday, May 5, at the Amiga Hotel in Seoul, with University of Nagoya President Shin’ichi Hirano and NUAL Executive Coordinator Yoshito Itoh in attendance. About 30 former Nagoya University students were also present, including presidents and officers of the six existing branches.
At the general meeting, President Hirano’s opening greeting was followed by the announcement of the appointment of Professor Byoung-Ho Yun (Kangwon National University) as chairman of the Korea Branch. The chairman then greeted the assembly, and received from President Hirano the Korea Branch banner prepared for this occasion.
An informal gathering was held after the meeting. Itoh greeted the attendees, following which all the participants shared details of their current situations and memories of studying in Japan. Members circulated around the hall, exchanging business cards and rejoicing at the sight of old acquaintances. From beginning to end, the atmosphere was friendly and warm. The Korea Branch intends to hold a general meeting once a year and run lively alumni events.
