The inaugural meeting of the Beijing Branch of the Nagoya University Alumni Association the second Chinese branch after Shanghai and the fifth overseas branch was held Monday, May 21, 2007, at the Beijing Yanshan Hotel.

The general meeting opened with an address by Beijing Branch Chairman Wei Pan, Professor at Tsinghua University, following which Nagoya University President Shin'ichi Hirano presented the official NUAL banner and certificate to Pan and expressed his hope for continuing goodwill between Nagoya University and the Beijing Branch.

At the informal gathering that followed, NUAL Executive Coordinator Yoshito Itoh transmitted NUAL President Shoichiro Toyoda's congratulations and explained how the different overseas branches had come to be founded. Shanghai Branch Chairman Jun Tang's congratulations were also conveyed. Over fifty people attended, mainly former students who reminisced with nostalgia about their days as students in Japan, keeping this very successful party going even beyond its planned closing time.

The Nagoya University Beijing Alumni Association's activities include organizing meetings and distributing documents from the University and NUAL to its members.
