Inaugural Meeting of the Nagoya University Shanghai Alumni Association (Shanghai Branch)

The inaugural meeting of the Nagoya University Shanghai Alumni Association (Shanghai Branch) was held on Friday, November 11, 2005, at 6 p.m. at the Lily Room in the Shanghai Garden Hotel.

About 30 people attended the general meeting, including Nagoya University President Shin'ichi Hirano, Director General Yamamoto, NUAL Executive Coordinator Yoshito Itoh, and a number of Nagoya University alumni living in Shanghai. The meeting opened with Hirano greeting the attendees. Then, representing the Nagoya University Alumni Association, Itoh gave a speech recounting the sequence of events leading up to the establishment of the Shanghai Branch and announced the names of its chairman and secretary.

Next, the Branch chairman, Jun Tang, CEO of Shanda Networking (Graduate School of Engineering, MA 1998), received the official Branch banner and certificate from Hirano and spoke to the assembly.

The Shanghai Branch's main focus is on helping the Nagoya University Shanghai Liaison Office to widen the network of University of Nagoya alumni in China.
